A major mission of the Washington University Tuberous Sclerosis Center is to perform both basic science and clinical research to advance our understanding of tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) and to develop better therapies for this disease.

We perform various types of research at the Center, including:

  • Laboratory research, that investigates the biological mechanisms causing TSC.
  • Patient-oriented clinical research, that seeks to understand the natural history and treatment outcomes of TSC.
  • Clinical drug trials, that aim to translate findings from the laboratory into new treatments for TSC patients.
